The Life Cycle of a Phenomenon can be defined by distinct phases.

1. The Big Idea

A charismatic leader or coaches propose a revolutionary approach pledging a solution for alienated and vulnerable people.

And so it goes. Plans are in motion to challenge the establishment overseas. Pressure is mounting. Signs of trouble appear from the out-houses. An isolated player, exposed, anxious, the phrase ATTACKING MINDSET smeared across his chest as a symbol, has come staggering into view and is removed under a blanket to a different team at Derbyshire.

Remember the beginning, when the world was still young? The era of early Bazball, of uninhibited aggression.

2. Initial Adoration

Movement founders guarantee a new start, a brighter tomorrow, camaraderie, salvation together with shared faith in the method.

How did it feel back then? Just men on a balcony feeling good. Ink. Muscles. Jawlines. Confident masculinity. Oh sure, England’s players insist they don’t use the label, amusingly because if it doesn’t exist, what did we see?

However, everyone understands its essence. It’s the batsman playing a shot so unconventional it has to be pixelated. It’s the excitement of Ben Stokes at his peak, a demeanor suggesting: focused titan, strong features, hair woven from beaver hide, truly contemporary you half-expect to glance over and find him positioned on the ground bare-chested and cradling a wild salmon.

It’s the batsman often seen to talk in press conferences, appearing as a cheerful animal formally attired, expressing thoughts like we’re breaking down traditions. Indeed, the vibe, for a significant period, was uplifting.

3. The Growth Phase

Development stage. Cohesion maintained through repetition of mantras. These principles can appear contradictory as a loyalty check.

Am I alone? The reaction, the outrage, the disappointment post-defeat seems too strong, too much. The batting collapsed during the match, as history shows. They were dominated while bowling for a couple of hours when tactics failed, carved around by the batsman playing aggressively but smarter, adjusting to the pitch, a man playing with brilliance.

Currently, we see the criticism, the anger, the perception of the team as a kind of abomination. The consensus is that defeat must be total, they need to lose righteously, to be cleansed, obliterated, destroyed via traditional methods of the bowler’s action, the conventional tactics of the veteran, marking successes humbly similar to getting a rewarding prize. What impact will this have?

4. The Backlash Phase

Problems arise from failures in the plan. Yet, mistakes are denied. It begins to thrive on hostility externally.

In truth, half a week out the upcoming game, we are at a critical juncture in the journey of this thing. England could quite easily win in the next Test in a blur of adrenal disruption. More likely, they could lose just as quickly. And if they do lose it seems we really might be entering the death cult phase.

Ahead of this, there are two things worth saying regarding this. Previously, at the start, of optimism and energy, I wrote an article labeling it a movement. On the other hand, exists the larger scene of the opponent’s mixed deep-seated frustration towards the unconventional visitors, claiming, the methods you value and have developed as one way of separating yourself culturally from us, it’s just a joke after all.

This is the core issue. Everything is a cult. The style was a trend because cricket is a cult. In fact, the team has long been exclusive, a clique, a private event, a closed world with centuries of ceremonial past behind it. It has long been where influence is guarded. It’s the imperial sport of the British, the original sports washers. And notably, Britain is itself a cult, a system of unknown levels, a royal family remains.

The players have been enclosed within this world for years. Seeking change, to foster positivity, they are just repeating their upbringing, creating another a bubble, an exclusive group, but now with 15 cool guys and a coach who wants you to be yourself provided you conform.

Focus on the moment. Run towards the danger. But no matter how fast and far you run, you remain stuck.

Reflecting on this, it is perhaps the moment to offer compassion for the movement, to appreciate its good points, which are significant. How to define it? Encouraging expression. Challenging orthodoxies. Batting aggressively|Attacking with
